Midweek Meditation: Wednesday, October 7, 2026
Dear Calvary family,
Here at Calvary we are on the move as we strive to fulfill our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
We express our mission through our hospitality at the craft fair, our support of the Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home in Lebanon, Indiana, and our investment in disciple making at all ages and stages. Moreover, at Calvary we fulfill that mission as we “seek God, love one another, and reach out”. But what do these values look like as we are on the move? That is the right question which we will ask ourselves over the next three Sundays in worship. This Sunday, we consider seeking God and loving one another together.
Are we seeking God as if He is like Waldo who hides in a cartoon scene? God is not lost, nor does He need to be found. He knows where He is! Do we seek God as if we need to catch Him in a butterfly net? God is not to be obtained as if He can be contained. No, rather what it means to seek God is that we strive to put GOD first in our lives as Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:33-34. Putting God first as we are on the move!
Next, as we are on the move are we loving one another like we love our favorite dessert? Or are we loving one another in agape (self-less love) towards one another as we experience the agape (unconditional love) of Jesus towards us? Loving unconditionally is the command of our Jesus.
And if that is true, then how do we express those together? Join us this Sunday for the conversation on seeking & loving, and loving & seeking.
With the eyes of our hearts enlightened with the hope who is Jesus the Christ,
Pastor Michelle

GriefShare is a welcoming support group for people grieving the death of a family member or friend. Each meeting combines guidance from grief experts, along with honest conversations and encouragement from others who understand what you’re going through. There’s no pressure to have the right words or to “move on.” Instead, you’ll find a safe place to share your story when and if you’re ready, listen when you need to, ask questions, and discover timely tools that can help you navigate life after loss – one step at a time.
