Midweek Meditation: Wednesday, October 29, 2025

Dear Calvary Family,

There are so many reasons and so many things we should be thankful for. If you look at your day today, how many times did you say: “I am so grateful to God for…” and then, how many times did you complain?

This beautiful fall, I am grateful for being able to live in Brownsburg, to have a house, the most amazing family I share my life with. I am grateful to be encouraged and loved by so many of you. I am grateful for the time that God is giving, for the lessons I am learning. I am very grateful for all the saints, both living and those who passed before us and are waiting for us in God’s presence. I am grateful for the words, deeds, and examples of people who are around us and those who have left us. One of the most powerful truths God is giving us is a life everlasting through faith in Jesus Christ. Think about that when we pray and when we are at the Communion table, the world we live in and the world that we will be living in overlap. Through faith, through the Holy Spirit, we are able to have a glimpse of the hope and reality of one body of Christ.

This Sunday, we will remember those who have left before us. We will turn to God’s promises to us in all circumstances and to His will for our lives. Ready to experience an abundance of grace? Have faith and come to worship with us this Sunday.

Abundant grace,
Pastor Jolita

Here’s what’s happening in the life of our Church and how you can get involved:

FALL BACK
Just a reminder that this weekend is the time change. Be sure to set your clocks back one hour on Saturday night.

FIRST MONDAY OF THE MONTH PRAYER TIME
Next Monday, November 3, meet us at 6:30am in the Sanctuary for our monthly time of prayer. Bring your favorite morning drink and what’s on your heart for a few quiet moments together.

WOMEN’S RETREAT REGISTRATION IS OPEN
November 8 is just a few days away! Time to start planning for a beautifully fulfilling day! Life is full of ups and downs, but God’s grace is greater than our hardest seasons. Come experience an authentic, uplifting message with Bible teacher and speaker Cindy Bultema who has walked through the pit and discovered the power of God’s redeeming love. Don’t miss this chance to refresh your heart and be reminded: You are deeply loved. Invite your friends and family and head to https://calvaryunited.org/womens-retreat/ to sign up today.

OCTOBER IS PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH
Thank you to all who have shown their love and appreciation for Pastor Michelle, Pastor Jolita, and Dr. Mark so far this month. If you would like to do something, there are baskets for cards on the table across from the office. If you have any questions or would like to contribute to a gift, contact Jill Robertson (shepherdskid1@gmail.com). Thank you!

NEW MONDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY STARTING SOON
The 10:00am Monday Bible Study will begin examining and discussing Isaiah 40-55 on November 10. If you would like to join in, call or email the office or sign up on the sheet in the office. The study guide is $20. (If that is a hardship, please let Pastor Michelle know.)

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY
The Monday evening Women’s Bible Study class will not be meeting on November 3 or November 10. They will resume on Monday, November 17, with a 4-week Advent study to prepare our hearts for Christmas. “The Wonder of Advent; Delighting in the Hope, Joy, Peace, and Love of Christmas” is a Lifeway study with a participant guide ($15) accompanied by video lessons. Notify Beth Wright or the church office in interested in joining and purchasing the study guide.

YOUTH GROUP
Youth Group will meet again this Sunday, November 2. In addition to Youth Group starting back up, Youth Handbells will also start that night! Bring a friend and come at 5:00 for bells, followed by Youth Group at 6:00.

NOVEMBER’S MONTHLY MISSION
Near the end of each year, the Missions and Outreach Committee determines which groups will be the focus of our designated missions giving from month to month. Last year, it had been decided that the Brownsburg Older Adult Alliance would receive November 2025’s gifts. However, we have recently been informed that BOAA will now become part of the Hendricks County Senior Services, effective the first of the year. Our committee has determined that our November gifts will go instead to “Brownsburg food insecurity” due to the federal government shutdown and SNAP benefits not being funded after October. The mission team will decide how best to divide the donations between the Blessing Box, Cornerstone Christian & Messiah Lutheran food pantries, and a Calvary Community dinner for Blessing Box families.

SPEAKING OF BOAA: A GREAT SERVICE PROJECT, ESPECIALLY FOR YOUTH AND FAMILIES
The Brownsburg Older Adult Alliance is hosting its annual Fall Raking (no bagging!) on November 15th and 22nd. There are two sessions on both of those days: The first one starts at 9:00am; the second starts at 1:00pm. We will meet here at church at the garage. A sack lunch will be provided. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before the time you signed up for. Bring a rake and garden clippers if you have them and dress for the weather. Rain dates will be both Sundays at Noon. Visit https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090C4AACAE28A6F94-59245969-fall/170167945#/ to sign up today! (If you are a student in need of volunteer hours, this is a great opportunity for that!)

INFANT & TODDLER FAMILY FELLOWSHIP
We will meet again on Saturday, November 15, in Fellowship Hall at 3:00. We will discuss suggestions and tips for coping with stress at the holidays. Plan now to join us!

SIGN UP TO READ TO THE CLA KIDS
This past school year, we started a new reading time in the Learning Academy, and it was so much fun! We’re going to do it again this year! Sign up at the Mission Table in the hallway the next time you’re at church!
