Midweek Meditation: Wednesday, October 15, 2025

Dear Calvary Family,

How do we hear and recognize God’s voice in our lives?

Our Scripture reading comes from Acts 8. We meet Philip who obeys God’s voice immediately… no questions asked. As I was praying through this chapter, I was led to think and research more about Philip. Did he one day just wake up, hear the voice, and leave immediately? Or… did he know the Lord, live his faith, serve the community, and study Scriptures?

What if we want to hear God’s voice before we get to know God or His Word? Maybe we seek His voice just for our own personal choices?

I know that God’s love for you is so big that He loves when you ask about the small things, like what to wear or where to go, as much as the big things of life. I think it’s wonderful when you ask Him about everything. But how does God want you to obey Him? He wants you to know Him through His Word that is written in the Bible. When you do, I believe you will start recognizing His voice, His ways in your life, His will for your life and other people around you. When that happens, you’ll hear Him when He says to be still or when He tells you to run. Your “walk” with Him should be at that speed of obedience He asks from you. What is the Lord saying to you today through the Scripture? Are you moving at the speed of obedience?

Listen to Him, in the way He chooses to speak to you.
I am willing to hear Him,
Pastor Jolita

Here’s what’s happening in the life of our Church and how you can get involved:

A particularly special thank you to our youth who put their time into cleaning up as the day went along! And a “note-worthy” thank you to Dr. Mark Herris for the organ recital he offered to the visitors!

OCTOBER MONTHLY MISSION
Lucille Raines Residence is a facility owned and operated by The United Women in Faith of Indiana (formerly The United Methodist Women of Indiana) since 1977. It houses up to 49 individuals who are actively engaged in rebuilding their lives from substance abuse. They all share in learning to function independently in day-to-day life. Many are finding Christ to be the source of successful recovery. Find out more at https://lucillerainesresidence.org/.

FALL CHURCH BUILDING CLEAN-UP: COME WHEN YOU CAN, LEAVE WHEN YOU HAVE TO
We’re having a second workday Saturday, October 25 from 8:00am until noon, cleaning up around the church. We will have a few different chores to check off the list and would love your help in getting them done. Many hands make light work, even if you can only share an hour! Check out the sign-up sheet on the Mission table across from the office. Chores include things to get the building ready for winter, like reflective markers in the parking lot and placing salt and shovels at the doors, along with some maintenance and cleaning things in the sanctuary and kitchen.

INFANT & TODDLER FAMILY FELLOWSHIP
We will meet again on Saturday, November 15, in Fellowship Hall at 3:00. We will discuss suggestions and tips for coping with stress at the holidays. Plan now to join us!
