Midweek Meditation: Wednesday, October 1, 2025

Dear Calvary Family,

Often people of a variety of walks of life and various depths of commitment to faith ask one or both of the following questions: “Does GOD still speak today?” and “If so, how do I know the voice I hear is HIM?”

The answer to the first question is both simple and remarkable at the same time. YES! Yes, GOD is still talking, speaking, whispering, communicating, singing, and praying to and towards HIS children which includes you.

Let’s just pause there. How AWESOME is that?! Jesus has things he wants you to know. The Holy Spirit longs to teach you, share with you, and encourage you. God our Heavenly Father bursts with joy to sing a song of faith over you. Zephaniah 3:17 which states, “The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

Join us in person or online these next three weeks as we consider the second question of being familiar with God’s voice. I am sure you want to hear Him better and more accurately. And, certainly be able to distinguish His voice from the noise, the evil one, and even your own voice.

This Sunday as we welcome a guest youth choir, we will also share in Holy Communion at the World’s longest communion table as this is World Communion Sunday.

We serve Jesus as Hearers and Doers,
Pastor Michelle

The pastors are hosting a meeting for young families following the worship service, during the Sunday School time, on Sunday, October 5, but we are in need of an adult to work with one of our teens to watch the young children in the nursery during that time. If you are able to help with that, please contact the office today!

OCTOBER MONTHLY MISSION
Lucille Raines Residence is a facility owned and operated by The United Women in Faith of Indiana (formerly The United Methodist Women of Indiana) since 1977. It houses up to 49 individuals who are actively engaged in rebuilding their lives from substance abuse. They all share in learning to function independently in day-to-day life. Many are finding Christ to be the source of successful recovery. Find out more at https://lucillerainesresidence.org/.

FALL CHURCH GROUNDS CLEAN-UP: COME WHEN YOU CAN, LEAVE WHEN YOU HAVE TO
We’re having a second workday Saturday, October 25 from 8:00am until noon, cleaning up around the church. We will have a few different chores to check off the list and would love your help in getting them done. Many hands make light work, even if you can only share an hour! Check out the sign-up sheet on the Mission table across from the office. Chores include things like, spreading mulch, weeding and trimming, and applying cold patch to holes in the drive.

CALVARY COOKBOOK IS HERE!
The Kindness Kitchen Cookbook has arrived! The cost is $15. See Karen Striegel in the hallway on Sunday! The extras will be sold at the Craft Fair.

CORRECTIONS FOR THE COOKBOOK
If you have purchased a cookbook already, there are a couple of corrections to make. The first is on page 31, under the Veggie Salad recipe: The instructions should start with, “Drain liquid from the cans of green beans, peas, corn, and the jar of pimentos.” You may then continue with combining all ingredients in a large bowl and refrigerating. The second correction is on page 117, under the Peach Dessert recipe. While cornstarch is mentioned in the instructions, it was omitted from the ingredient list. “3 T cornstarch” should be added to the list.

CORRECTION FOR THE AUGUST FINANCIAL FAITHFULNESS UPDATE
Last Friday, the August update was emailed out, but there was a mistake on the Mission giving to Family Promise. We would like to correct that amount: It should read instead $1,722.00. Thank you.
