Midweek Meditation: Wednesday, March 4, 2026
Dear Calvary Family,
I am looking forward to worshiping with you this Sunday. I love preaching, and even more to people that I know, to people who are my faith family. Gathering on Sundays is like we are coming home, coming to the Father’s house, to meet our brothers and sisters in Christ. To acknowledge that these are our brothers and sisters. Come, join the family. You are part of our faith family. Come because of Him.
One of my favorite stories is the story of a widow whose son has died. I have lived in this story since last November. God keeps revealing himself through this story to me. I have been a person who is carrying the dead man. I have been a person who watched this happen. I have been the person who witnessed the miracle for others but had still questions for my own life.
This Sunday, I invite you to pray not only to be encouraged by the message, but to be changed. How do you apply the fact that Jesus raises the boy from death into our life? What does this story have to do with you and me who bury the dead and who witness the pain? What do hope, compassion, and life mean to us and how can we all hear Jesus speak to us?
Returned to life,
Pastor Jolita
Here’s what’s happening in the life of our Church and how you can get involved:
TIME CHANGE REMINDER
Clocks spring forward this Sunday, March 8.
KITCHEN CLEAN-UP
With as busy as our kitchen is, we do need to do a serious clean-up from time to time, which includes organizing as well. Have a few minutes to share in that this Sunday, March 8? Come when you can and stay as long as you can. We will begin as fellowship time winds down and expect to be there until about 3:00. We’d love any amount of time you can give!
COMMUNITY LUNCH – A NEW OUTREACH FOR EVERYONE TO PARTICIPATE IN
We started a new mission project on the second Saturday of each month and we need you to be here for it! We are hosting lunch for members of the community who have been invited at the Blessing Boxes around town and through our local food pantries. Chili is on the menu for Saturday, March 14 at noon. (See the next announcement!) We would love to have you volunteer by helping and socializing! Sign up at the Mission table or by contacting the office. Direct any questions to the church office.
NEXT SATURDAY’S COMMUNITY LUNCH IS A CHILI COOK-OFF AND YOU CAN BE THE JUDGE!
Calvary is hosting the community lunch on Saturday, March 14 from Noon to 2:00pm, and turning it into a chili cook-off competition. Make your favorite chili recipe in a large crockpot and bring it to church to be judged. Not a cook? Come be a judge! Entry forms are located on the Missions Table. Or, email the church at office@calvaryunited.org. Entry deadline is March 7. We also encourage you to donate canned goods or offer a goodwill donation when you come. These gifts benefit our local food pantries and blessing boxes.
SPRING BLOOD DRIVE – WE NEED YOU!
Our semi-annual blood drive is scheduled for Sunday, March 15, from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Share this with your friends around town as we want to have the schedule filled! Sign up today at https://donateblood.versiti.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/11620262
NEW MEMBER INFORMATION
Interested in becoming a member? Join the pastors for an information session on Sunday, March 15 at 11:15am in Fellowship Hall. If you have questions, please contact the office.
YOUNG FAMILY DINNER
Families with infants and toddlers are welcome to join us for social time, dinner, and crafts together on Monday, March 16, at 5:30 in Fellowship Hall. We’d love to know if we can expect you, so please RSVP to the office (office@calvaryunited.org). See you then!
FIGHT CLUB
Are you looking to further your walk with God? Do you want to be challenged spiritually, relationally, mentally, and physically? Fight Club may be a good option for that. Fight Club is a men’s ministry that provides a 10-week journey with guided leadership and accountability with other men on the same journey. It focuses and provides tools to help you grow in those ways so you can be equipped to be a better man than you were before. This 10-week journey meets once a week locally during the evening with two larger events where other regions of Fight Club join together. The journey starts the week of March 15th and ends May 30th. If interested, please reach out to Kevin Kowalski (k_kowalski@sbcglobal.net) for more information.
CHURCH WORKDAY
It’s Spring cleaning time and that includes inside the church! Come lend a hand on Saturday, March 21, 8:00am to noon.
MEN’S GROUP MEETING
Our newly forming Men’s Group is going to meet for breakfast on Saturday, March 21 at the Brownsburg Bob Evans at 7:00am. Join them there! Following that, many of them will be helping out at the previously mentioned Church Workday at 8:00.
KIDS’ JOURNEY TO EASTER
Plan now to bring your kids and grandkids, toddlers through 5th grade, to our Easter Activity time following the service on Palm Sunday, March 29. We will have a special Easter Egg Hunt, cookie decorating, craft, and gift bag!
“FIRST” MONDAY OF THE MONTH PRAYER TIME
While we usually meet the first Monday of each month in the sanctuary for prayer time, rather than meet April 6, the day after Easter, we are going to meet instead on March 30, the Monday of Holy Week. Plan now to meet at 6:30 with your morning drink and prayer time together.
CLASSICS LUNCHEON
Ready for March Madness? Get your friends together and mark your calendars for Tuesday, March 31 at Noon for our monthly Classics Luncheon with a basketball theme, including Sloppy Joes, hotdogs, etc. Call the office to RSVP or sign up at the Mission table.
LENTEN BREAKFAST SERIES
Each year, area Methodist church members meet for breakfast and move through the Lenten season together. Join them this Saturday, March 17, at 8:30am, at Mt Olive UMC, 1449 S High School Rd, Indy. Saturday, March 14, will be at West Newton UMC, 6843 Mendenhall Rd, Indy.
MARCH MISSIONS FOCUS
Our March monthly mission giving will go to UMCOR, the mission and humanitarian assistance agency of the United Methodist Church. It works to make disciples of Jesus Christ; strengthen and develop and renew Christian congregations and communities; alleviate human suffering; and seek justice, freedom, and peace.
