Midweek Meditation: Wednesday, March 11, 2026
Dear Calvary family,
Who can walk on water? Well, if we pay attention to Marvel Comics or DC Comic book’s heroes and heroines, they have amazing powers and abilities which might include water walking. But that is fiction and fantasy. In real life, who can walk on water?
There are just a couple of water-walker water stories in scripture. Genesis 7:18 describes the ark of Noah and how the people and animals were saved and preserved inside the ark during the great flood. “And the waters were mighty, and they increased much upon the earth; and the ark HEYLEK (the Hebrew word for ‘walked’) upon the face of the waters.” And there is Job 9:8 in which Job describes the amazing magnificence of our Creator God, “who stretches out the heavens by Himself, and who walks upon the waves of the sea.”
And then we have Jesus walking on the sea in the midst of a nighttime storm. His disciples see him walk on the water in Matthew 14:22-32, John 6:15-21, and Mark 6:45-56. Each version is slightly unique, but the core of Jesus’ power over nature remains the same. What does this mean? No other messiah in the first century had this claim about himself. No other rabbi had this claim either. This is beyond bold, dramatic and different. This is Godly.
And what does it mean that the raging storm of the sea is merely a footpath for our Lord to come to us? Come join us this Sunday as we consider the Water-Walker Power of the Gospel of Jesus! See you in person or online.
We will also take time this Sunday to give thanks, celebrate and appreciate Mr. Emory Lencke who served effectively as our finance administrator from 2022-2025. Come have cake with him!
With eyes of our hearts enlightened with the hope of God in Jesus,
Pastor Michelle
Here’s what’s happening in the life of our Church and how you can get involved:
COMMUNITY LUNCH – A NEW OUTREACH FOR EVERYONE TO PARTICIPATE IN
We started a new mission project on the second Saturday of each month and we need you to be here for it! We are hosting lunch for members of the community who have been invited at the Blessing Boxes around town and through our local food pantries. Chili is on the menu for Saturday, March 14 at noon. We would love to have you volunteer by helping and socializing! Direct any questions to the church office.
THIS SUNDAY’S SPRING BLOOD DRIVE – WE NEED YOU!
Our semi-annual blood drive is scheduled for this Sunday, March 15, from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Share this with your friends around town as we want to have the schedule filled! Sign up today at https://donateblood.versiti.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/11620262
NEW MEMBER INFORMATION SESSION

YOUTH AND FAMILY FIELD TRIP TO NOAH’S ARK EXPERIENCE
Our youth group is currently studying the book of Genesis. They are finishing Genesis 9, the story of Noah’s ark. Pastor Jolita would like to take our youth, and others if interested, on a one day field trip to Williamstown, KY, on Wednesday, April 1st to encounter the Noah’s Ark Experience. Tickets for youth 11-17 are $60, but our church would cover half the ticket cost for each youth. (They will need additional money for food and spending money.) Tickets for Adults are $110. Senior adult tickets (60+) are $100. Anyone in the congregation is welcome to come. Please let Pastor Jolita know if you would like to attend by this Sunday, March 15th at the latest. (jerbele@calvaryunited.org) Details regarding transportation will be forthcoming.
YOUNG FAMILY DINNER
Families with infants and toddlers are welcome to join us for social time, dinner, and crafts together on Monday, March 16, at 5:30 in Fellowship Hall. We’d love to know if we can expect you, so please RSVP to the office (office@calvaryunited.org). See you then!
LET’S CELEBRATE SUE!
Cherished member, Sue Allen, is turning 95 on March 22nd! We want to celebrate her life and shower her with birthday love. This Sunday, we invite you to sign one of the blank birthday cards located on the Love Note table or feel free to send your own card! If you need her address, please contact the church office.
FIGHT CLUB
Are you looking to further your walk with God? Do you want to be challenged spiritually, relationally, mentally, and physically? Fight Club may be a good option for that. Fight Club is a men’s ministry that provides a 10-week journey with guided leadership and accountability with other men on the same journey. It focuses and provides tools to help you grow in those ways so you can be equipped to be a better man than you were before. This 10-week journey meets once a week locally during the evening with two larger events where other regions of Fight Club join together. The journey starts the week of March 15th and ends May 30th. If interested, please reach out to Kevin Kowalski (k_kowalski@sbcglobal.net) for more information.

MARCH MISSIONS FOCUS
