Midweek Meditation: Wednesday, June 3, 2026
Dear Calvary Family,
I am confident you may have heard someone say, “The only thing constant is change.” That might have been someone older and wiser saying that to you. Perhaps that was you sharing sage advice to someone younger than yourself.
Yes, change is here. It happens. A lot. But so is our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Our God has something to say about change: the unknown, the newness, and all the feelings and mindset that go with it. In fact, God is Sovereign (or has authority) in seasons of change. Just as spring turns to summer, God’s Divine purpose moves each of us from one season into another in our created world. A season of life, a season of vocation or career, a season of parenting, a season of caregiving, a season of achievement, a season of healing & respite. Such a wide variety of seasons.
Just as we as beautiful individuals with the imprint of God’s Imago Dei (Divine Image) upon us experience change, so also our congregation goes through seasons of change. Here we are, going through a leadership change, embracing a change in our discipleship, and leaning into the next steps of our fiscal sustainability and missional outreach. God’s authority reigns over it all.
But how do we cope with reality? How do we grieve? How do we handle things when we are uncomfortable or even nervous and afraid?
These are the questions we will explore together as we consider the reality of the unknown together. Join us for my message on Joshua 1:1-9 as our Lord challenges us to greet the reality of change and the unknown with His strength and courage.
See you in person or online as we also share at our Lord’s table.
With the eyes of our hearts enlightened with the Hope of God in Christ,
Pastor Michelle
Here’s what’s happening in the life of our Church and how you can get involved:
SUNDAY MORNING HELP NEEDED ASAP!
As summer begins, we are looking for adult and youth volunteers to help in both the AV Booth or in the nursery during a Sunday service. If you’d like to find out more about either opportunity, please contact the office today! Office@CalvaryUnited.org or 317-852-2541.
SUMMER CHOIR
Summer Choir began on Sunday, May 31. Summer Choir is a wonderful, low-commitment opportunity to sing together during the summer months. We will meet on alternating Sunday mornings at 9:00 am to learn an anthem that we will sing during the 10:00 am worship service. There are no Wednesday evening rehearsals through the summer.
Our Summer Choir dates are:
• June 14
• June 28
• July 26
• August 9
• August 23
Please note that there will be no Summer Choir on July 12 or September 6.
We will resume our regular Wednesday evening rehearsals on September 9.
Signing up is not required during the summer! Feel free to invite friends to join us as well. Everyone is welcome!
JUNE MISSION FOCUS
This month’s mission giving will go to the Pastors’ Discretionary Fund. These gifts are used to help when unforeseen needs arise.
CHILDREN’S AND YOUTH SUNDAY SCHOOL
Our Children and Youth Sunday School Classes have ended for the summer. If you are interested in helping as a Sunday School teacher with either group starting in August, please contact the office today! (Office@CalvaryUnited.org)
KEEP OUR FLORA BEAUTIFUL
Spring has sprung and we are in need of volunteers to care for our lovely outdoor flowers and plants on a regular basis. They need attention every other day. If you are able to give any amount of time to this ministry, please contact the church office or Brenda Caron for specifics.
COMMUNITY LUNCH – PULLED PORK
On the second Saturday of each month, we host our Community Lunch for members of the community who have been invited at the Blessing Boxes around town and through our local food pantries. We’d love to have you volunteer by donating, helping, and/or socializing at our next one on Saturday, June 13, from 11:00am til 1:00pm! Sign up at the Mission Table or contact the office. Hope to see you there!
COMMUNITY LUNCH SNACK BAGS
When we host the Community Lunch, we send a snack bag home with those who attend. We are running low on items, so if you would like to donate, we are looking for snacks that won’t melt in the heat. That would include items such as beef sticks, granola or protein bars, and fruit snacks. They may be dropped off in the box on the Mission Table.
MEN’S BREAKFAST
Our next men’s group breakfast will be held in Fellowship Hall this Saturday, June 20, at 9:00am. Join them for good food, coffee, and lively conversation! We’d love to know if you’ll be there, so please RSVP at the Mission Table or contact the office.
JOIN THE COLUMBARIUM COMMITTEE
Are you interested in learning more about the Columbarium and Memorial Gardens that are developing so beautifully outside the windows at church? A great way to learn more is to be a part of the committee! The committee meets only every other month at 4:00pm here at church to discuss items that come up, with the next meeting on August 4. If you’d like to find out more, contact Tom Hanna at skhtgh@tds.net today.
FIND OUT MORE ABOUT LEGO CAMP
LEGO Camp was created to take the place of the traditional VBS of previous years. It is extremely popular, using the theme of building and sharing our faith. Monies collected will help fund all the various parts of this outreach, including crafts, decorations, snacks, scholarships, and more! Thank you for your support and we’d love to have you join us! See below for more information!
SEEKING VOLUNTEERS FOR LEGO CAMP! NOTE TRAINING DATE CHANGE
In order for LEGO Camp to be a success, we need LOTS of volunteers! Those interested must be high school age or older. We are specifically needing several interested in leading a group. A recent background check will be required for those 18 and older. Sign-up sheets are available at the Mission Table or contact the office. Volunteer registration deadline is June 15, 2026. Let’s make this the best LEGO Camp yet!
