Midweek Meditation: Wednesday, June 10, 2026
Dear Calvary Family,
Thank you so much for so many of your insightful thoughts and comments about our worship message last week! The Lord is moving and working within each of our lives and within our life together!
We lean into another faith truth about navigating change this week. And our focus will be on the idea of what it means to surrender our personal (human) control to the Holy Spirit’s Process of Transformation! Whew, that is a major, important theological truth and it is significant stuff for our lives!
Surrender isn’t “easy” nor our first go-to move as human beings! Our culture and human nature tells us, “how wonderful it is to be self-sufficient” and affirms “look at that amazing independence”. But our faith teaches us the humility of dependence.
Join us for this challenging conversation as we truly are living counter to our culture as we trust and lean into God’s way rather than singing with Frank Sinatra, “I’ll Do It My Way.”
And yes, donuts will be readily available on Sunday too!
With the eyes of our hearts enlightened with the Hope of God in Christ,
Pastor Michelle
Here’s what’s happening in the life of our Church and how you can get involved:
SUNDAY MORNING HELP NEEDED ASAP!
As summer begins, we are looking for adult and youth volunteers to help in both the AV Booth or in the nursery during a Sunday service. Training will be provided! If you’d like to find out more about either opportunity, please contact the office today! Office@CalvaryUnited.org or 317-852-2541.
SUMMER CHOIR
Lend your voice this Sunday, the 14th! Summer Choir is a wonderful, low-commitment opportunity to sing together during the summer months. We will meet on alternating Sunday mornings at 9:00 am to learn an anthem that we will sing during the 10:00 am worship service. There are no Wednesday evening rehearsals through the summer.
Our Summer Choir dates are:
June 14
June 28
July 26
August 9
August 23
Please note that there will be no Summer Choir on July 12 or September 6.
We will resume our regular Wednesday evening rehearsals on September 9.
Signing up is not required during the summer! Feel free to invite friends to join us as well. Everyone is welcome!
DISCIPLESHIP SMALL GROUP OPPORTUNITY
Yesterday, a letter was emailed regarding the start of Discipleship Small Groups. There is still room for YOU! We believe God continues to call us deeper into community, spiritual growth, and intentional discipleship, and these groups are designed to create space for meaningful connection, encouragement, and growth in faith.
Each group will include approximately 5–6 participants and will meet for 90 minutes each week for a total of 25 weeks.
If you are interested in participating and want to ask questions before you commit, or if you feel God’s nudge and know you would like to participate, please reply to Robyn Maynard directly at robyn92361@gmail.com by June 16th with your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice from the following options:
● Tuesday evenings from 7:00–8:30 PM, starting June 30 (facilitator: Ron Jerome)
● Sunday mornings from 7:30–9:00 AM, starting July 19 (facilitators: Patrick Scherer and Diane Brown)
● Thursday mornings from 8:00–9:30 AM, starting August 6 (facilitators: Anne Inman and Karen Rigsbee)
We will do our best to accommodate preferences while creating balanced groups that foster meaningful connection and growth. If you feel God’s nudging and would prefer to talk with someone 1:1 about discipleship or engage in 1:1 discipleship coaching, please share that with Robyn.
We are excited for what God is doing through discipleship in our congregation and would love for you to prayerfully consider being part of this journey!
JUNE MISSION FOCUS
This month’s mission giving will go to the Pastors’ Discretionary Fund. These gifts are used to help when unforeseen needs arise.
BROWNSBURG SCHOOLS’ FASTTRACK
We will be collecting pencils again this year for Brownsburg schools’ FastTrack program which helps families in need prepare for the school year. As you shop in stores or online, please consider purchasing pencils. A collection box will be on the Mission table until July 12. The school has asked that they be bundled in packs of 12, so if you’d like to do that ahead of dropping them off, that would be appreciated although not required.
Also, if you’re interested in helping in some way, you may sign up here to help sort: Fast Track Volunteers: Fast Track 2026 – Opening and Sorting Supplies, or here to help the day of: Fast Track Volunteers: Fast Track Volunteers 2026- Saturday, July 25, 2026 Thank you for sharing in this way!

Hope to see you there!
MEN’S BREAKFAST
Our next men’s group breakfast will be held in Fellowship Hall Saturday, June 20, at 9:00am. Join them for good food, coffee, and lively conversation! We’d love to know if you’ll be there, so please RSVP at the Mission Table or contact the office.

JOIN THE COLUMBARIUM COMMITTEE
Are you interested in learning more about the Columbarium and Memorial Gardens that are developing so beautifully outside the windows at church? A great way to learn more is to be a part of the committee! The committee meets only every other month at 4:00pm here at church to discuss items that come up, with the next meeting on August 4. If you’d like to find out more, contact Tom Hanna at skhtgh@tds.net today.

MESSIAH LUTHERAN’S FOOD PANTRY AND MEIJER “SIMPLY GIVE” SPRING CAMPAIGN
Our neighbor, Messiah Lutheran Church, has been given the opportunity to partner with the newly built Meijer store in Brownsburg. Through June 27th, Meijer customers may add a “$10 Simply Give” donation card at checkout and all of the donations during this time will go only to Messiah Lutheran’s Food Pantry. The donation is converted into a Meijer food-only gift card for the Food Pantry to purchase food. NOTE: This is not a physical gift card you are purchasing.
Additionally, when done on Saturday, June 20th, for every $10 Simply Donation card a customer adds to their purchase on Meijer will DOUBLE MATCH the donation, adding an additional $20. That means Messiah’s Food Pantry will receive $30 for each Simply Give donation card purchased that day!
Important to note: Only cards purchased at the Brownsburg Meijer will go to Messiah Lutheran’s Food Pantry. You can help us feed our neighbors in Brownsburg in this way. Please share this opportunity with your friends, neighbors, co-workers, and relatives as every dollar will make a difference to Messiah Lutheran’s Food Pantry.
