Midweek Meditation: Wednesday, July 1, 2026
Dear Calvary Family,
The LEGO Principle…
Did you know six 2×4 LEGO bricks can be combined in more than 915 million ways? Every LEGO creation starts with one brick. When LEGO bricks connect, amazing things happen… castles, spaceships, race cars…and much more.
What can a simple LEGO brick teach us about life, faith, and purpose? More than you might imagine. No matter the shape, size, or color of a LEGO piece, every piece is designed to do one thing: CONNECT. And in much the same way, God created us for meaningful connection – with Him and one another. In a world where many people feel isolated and disconnected, God offers a better way.
We will explore how our deepest need is not merely achievement or success, but relationship. Just as LEGO bricks are made to connect, people are made for relationship. We were created to know God personally and to experience the strength, encouragement, and belonging that come from genuine Christian community. We will discover how every person has a unique place and purpose in God’s Kingdom. Just like every LEGO brick contributes to a larger creation, every believer has unique gifts, experiences, and opportunities that God can use to build something greater than ourselves.
Join us as we explore how connecting upward with God and outward with others can transform lives, our church, and our community. You may find that the piece you’ve been searching for is not something you possess, but someone to connect with.
Ask yourself, “Who is God asking me to CONNECT with this week?”
Connecting in Christ,
Anne Inman
Here’s what’s happening in the life of our Church and how you can get involved:
SUNDAY MORNING HELP NEEDED ASAP
As summer begins, we are looking for adult and youth volunteers to help in both the AV Booth or in the nursery during a Sunday service. Training will be provided! If you’d like to find out more about either opportunity, please contact the office today! Office@CalvaryUnited.org or 317-852-2541.
THANK YOU, LEGO VOLUNTEERS! TRAINING INFORMATION HERE:
Thank you to all who have signed up to volunteer! If you were unable to attend the training on June 28th, there will be teacher training on Saturday, July 11, 10:00am – 11:30am. Please plan on attending. If you have any questions, please contact the office.
LEGO CAMP GIVING TREE
Our LEGO Camp giving tree is still “ripe for the picking”! There are a few items left for purchase.
To participate, simply take a leaf from the Giving Tree and sign up on the sheet located at the mission table. Please note “LEGO Camp” in the memo portion of your check. It costs approximately $8000 each summer to make LEGO Camp possible. Your generosity helps ensure that every child can experience a week filled with creativity, faith, and fun. Thank you for helping us build something special, one brick at a time. Please turn in all donations by Sunday, June 28th. Financial donations will be accepted through July 26, 2026. (Please indicate “LEGO Camp” in the memo portion of your check.) Any questions, please contact Anne Inman at anneinman1@hotmail.com or contact the church office.
SUMMER CHOIR
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord! Summer Choir is a wonderful, low-commitment opportunity to sing together during the summer months. We will meet on alternating Sunday mornings at 9:00 am to learn an anthem that we will sing during the 10:00 am worship service. There are no Wednesday evening rehearsals through the summer.
Our Summer Choir dates are:
• July 26
• August 9
• August 23
Please note that there will be no Summer Choir on July 12 or September 6.
We will resume our regular Wednesday evening rehearsals on September 9.
Signing up is not required during the summer! Feel free to invite friends to join us as well. Everyone is welcome.
ALTAR GUILD
The seasonal banners and decorations in the Sanctuary are put in place by our Altar Guild. This group meets as needed, typically on a weekday morning seasonally, to do this. They would love a few more hands to help with this. If interested, please contact the office or Beth Schermer.
BROWNSBURG SCHOOLS’ FASTTRACK – DONATIONS AND VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We will be collecting pencils again this year for Brownsburg schools’ FastTrack program which helps families in need prepare for the school year. As you shop in stores or online, please consider purchasing pencils. A collection box will be on the Mission table until July 12. The school has asked that they be bundled in packs of 12, so if you’d like to do that ahead of dropping them off, that would be appreciated although not required.
NOTE: We will have a FastTrack gathering at the church on Sunday, July 12, 11:15am -12:15pm in the Youth Room to package the donated pencils. We could use your help! If you can volunteer, please contact Melinda Kackowski or the church office.
Also, if you’re interested in helping in other ways, you may sign up here to help sort: Fast Track Volunteers: Fast Track 2026 – Opening and Sorting Supplies, or here to help the day of: Fast Track Volunteers: Fast Track Volunteers 2026- Saturday, July 25, 2026 Thank you for sharing in this way!
JULY MISSION FOCUS – KINDNESS KITCHEN
This month’s mission giving will go to Calvary’s Kindness Kitchen. Our kitchen ministry has been busy feeding people’s stomachs and souls for quite a while. There are many ways to support the Kindness Kitchen with volunteering, but financial support is also greatly appreciated and the focus for this month’s Mission Giving.
What does the Kindness Kitchen do? Some of the items are our monthly Community Meals and Young Family Meals, CLA Cookie Day to welcome new students, providing food and funds to Family Promise and to our trailer park families that we support, along with making meals for our sick and shut-ins.
In addition to gifts and donations, volunteers are essential to our mission! Food and fellowship go hand-in-hand and is such an important part of our Christian Hospitality! Even if you can’t cook, we can always use servers, cleaners and folks who fellowship with those we serve. Interested in helping? Please contact Karen Striegel at Karenstriegel5@gmail.com. The Kindness Kitchen is heating up! We’re happy to get you involved in the numerous opportunities to feed the Christian connections that we are cultivating!
COMMUNITY LUNCH – FRIED CHICKEN
On the second Saturday of each month, we host our Community Lunch for members of the community who have been invited at the Blessing Boxes around town and through our local food pantries. We’d love to have you volunteer by donating, helping, and/or socializing at our next one on Saturday, July 11, from 11:00am til 1:00pm! Sign up at the Mission Table or contact the office. Hope to see you there!
A GIFT BAG CONNECTED TO THE LUNCH
When we host the Community Lunch, we send a bag home with those who attend. While we currently have enough snacks for the bags, we would like to be able to add in some small toiletries as well. If you are willing to contribute those, they may be dropped off in the box on the Mission Table.
CANS OF SODA
The Craft Fair may seem like a long way off, but hopefully you’ve got it on your calendar already! (October 10!) We are once again planning to sell donated 12oz cans of Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite. If you would like to donate, why not take advantage of the sales that happen around the Fourth of July and Labor Day? We will collect and store your donations here. Thank you for helping in this way!
CHILDREN’S AND YOUTH SUNDAY SCHOOL
Our Children and Youth Sunday School Classes have ended for the summer. If you are interested in helping as a Sunday School teacher with either group starting in August, please contact the office today.
