Midweek Meditation: Wednesday, February 25, 2026
Dear Calvary Family,
When I was a teen, I did a lot of babysitting for kiddos. Babies, toddlers, grade-schoolers, and even a few older kids who informed me of my ranking in their babysitter rating system. Hilarious memories! One of my favorite strategies to get babies to sleep was to say out loud the multiplication tables: 1 times 1 is 1, 1 times 2 is 2, 1 times 3 is 3, and so on. Secretly, I hope that each of these children grew up to soar through math! But alas, I may never know the results of my great efforts to impart multiplication on them.
Multiplication can be fun! This kind of math is especially joyous when your limited resources bring satisfaction and also provide leftovers. How does God do that? Or better question to ask: what kind of GOD multiplies and not divides? Our God has multiplying power!
Come worship with us as we consider Power of the Gospel “Multiplier Power” this Sunday, live or online. We will also share in the sacrament of Holy Communion.
With eyes of our hearts enlightened with the hope of God in Jesus,
Pastor Michelle
Here’s what’s happening in the life of our Church and how you can get involved:
MARCH MISSIONS FOCUS
Our March monthly mission giving will go to UMCOR, the mission and humanitarian assistance agency of the United Methodist Church. It works to make disciples of Jesus Christ; strengthen and develop and renew Christian congregations and communities; alleviate human suffering; and seek justice, freedom, and peace.
NEW SUNDAY SCHOOL SERIES FOR LENT
This Sunday, March 1, the Horizons Sunday School Class is starting a new 5-week series, viewing and discussing Max Lucado’s study, “3:16 The Numbers of Hope”. The best-selling author and pastor pulls back the curtain on the best known and most loved verse in the Bible, revealing how it gives hope for the hard heart and invites all to join its promise and receive the assurance of eternal life. Join us in the Conference Room following the service on Sunday morning after getting your cup of coffee and a donut.
TIME CHANGE REMINDER
Clocks spring forward on Sunday, March 8.
KITCHEN CLEAN-UP
With as busy as our kitchen is, we do need to do a serious clean-up from time to time, which includes organizing as well. Have a few minutes to share in that on Sunday, March 8? Come when you can and stay as long as you can. We will begin as fellowship time winds down and expect to be there until about 3:00. We’d love any amount of time you can give!
SPRING BLOOD DRIVE – WE NEED YOU!
Our semi-annual blood drive is scheduled for Sunday, March 15, from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Share this with your friends around town as we want to have the schedule filled! Sign up today at https://donateblood.versiti.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/11620262

COMMUNITY LUNCH – A NEW OUTREACH FOR EVERYONE TO PARTICIPATE IN
Beginning this year, we started a new mission project on the second Saturday of each month and we need you to be here for it! We will be hosting lunch for members of the community who have been invited at the Blessing Boxes around town and through our local food pantries. Chili is on the menu for Saturday, March 14 at noon. (See the next announcement!) We would love to have you volunteer by helping and socializing! Sign up at the Mission table or by contacting the office. Direct any questions to the church office.
COMMUNITY LUNCH THIS MONTH IS A CHILI COOK-OFF AND YOU CAN BE THE JUDGE!
Calvary is hosting the community lunch on Saturday, March 14 from Noon to 2:00pm, and turning it into a chili cook-off competition. Make your favorite chili recipe in a 12-quart crockpot and bring it to church to be judged. Not a cook? Come be a judge! Entry forms are located on the Missions Table. Or, email the church at office@calvaryunited.org. Entry deadline is March 7. We also encourage you to donate canned goods or offer a goodwill donation when you come. These gifts benefit our local food pantries and blessing boxes.
