Midweek Meditation: Wednesday, September 23, 2026
Dear Calvary family,
Have you heard the phrase, “a setup for a comeback”? Or maybe you have heard a version like your “setback is a setup”? This mindset is a great way to consider how a failure or obstacle or delay is really a hidden opportunity for you to experience greater success.
But what about the spiritual nature of things in this world?
What about how God’s Spirit moves, weaves, and interacts with human free will? Does the Holy Spirit only set up something from a “comeback” point of view? Or is the Holy Spirit, our God in Jesus, always moving, wooing, encouraging, leading, guiding, and nudging us? Are there hundreds of hidden setups throughout our daily lives that we aren’t even noticing? What if?
When we read chapter 10 of Acts, it is a wild story. We meet a non-Jew, a gentile named Cornelius. He is someone who has heard nothing about Jesus (but loves GOD) and yet has a conversation with an angel regarding a dude named Peter. Meanwhile, in another place, God’s Spirit moves Peter into a trance to see a vision! Notice who is giving off main character vibes in this chapter! (Hint: the main character is not Cornelius, nor Peter, nor Simon.)
Join us this Sunday as we continue “…on the move” seeking God, loving one another, and reaching out as we consider how God sparks movement.
With the eyes of our heart enlightened by hope who is Christ Jesus,
Pastor Michelle

SEPTEMBER MISSION FOCUS – GENERAL MISSIONS AND OUTREACH
This September, Calvary is focusing on General Missions and Outreach, intentionally going beyond our church walls to build relationships with people, meet practical and spiritual needs, and to share the love of Jesus Christ with people God has placed around us. Through building relationships with our Calvary Learning Academy families and with the Clermont trailer park families, providing community meals, and sharing practical assistance when needs arise, we want to demonstrate the love of Christ and create pathways for people to know Jesus and become connected to Calvary. With outreach we are asking 4 questions: Who is God placing around us? What are their needs? How can Calvary serve them? And, how can we build genuine relationships?
