Midweek Meditation: Wednesday, March 18, 2026

Dear Calvary family,

Last September, as I anticipated cataract and corrective vision surgery on both of my eyes, I prepared by reading Bible stories about sight and Jesus’ healing of blindness. I was floored by how many verses talk about sight, vision, and the healing of blindness: both physical blindness and spiritual blindness. WOW! With so much to consider, it made me realize how significant ‘vision’ is for us as we follow Jesus.

One of the scriptures that meant so much to me was Ephesians 1:18, “so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints,”. I needed a boost of hope anticipating a surgery that, well, scared me. I need to see and have a vision for that hope.

Jesus has “sight-power” which gives all of us HOPE. Join us this Sunday as we consider the Power of the Gospel, the Good News which is Jesus!

Eyes of our hearts enlightened with the hope of God in Jesus,
Pastor Michelle

Here’s what’s happening in the life of our Church and how you can get involved:

UNITED WOMEN IN FAITH MEETING SATURDAY
Formerly known as the UMW, the Women in Faith group will be meeting this Saturday, March 21 at 9:30 for time together in fellowship along with featured speaker, Jodie Little, Executive Director of the Lucille Raines Residence, and Rae Wallace speaking on the Five Channels of Giving. No need to RSVP! Come join us!

EASTER BRUNCH
It’s becoming tradition! We are once again planning an Easter Brunch from 8:30-9:30 on Easter Sunday, April 5 in Fellowship Hall. To make it great, we need your help! Please consider donating or helping with it and sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0F45ABAC2AA3F85-62984822-easter

LUCILLE RAINES EASTER DINNER
On Monday, April 6, we will again be providing an Easter Dinner and fellowship at the Lucille Raines Residence and would love to have you there with us! Carpooling is available: Meet here at church at 4:15pm. You may also meet us there by 5:00pm. Lucille Raines Residence serves both men and women, and so we’d love to have men and women come along. If you have questions, call the church office.

FIGHT CLUB
Are you looking to further your walk with God? Do you want to be challenged spiritually, relationally, mentally, and physically? Fight Club may be a good option for that. Fight Club is a men’s ministry that provides a 10-week journey with guided leadership and accountability with other men on the same journey. It focuses and provides tools to help you grow in those ways so you can be equipped to be a better man than you were before. This 10-week journey meets once a week locally during the evening with two larger events where other regions of Fight Club join together. The journey starts the week of March 15th and ends May 30th. If interested, please reach out to Kevin Kowalski (k_kowalski@sbcglobal.net) for more information.

It’s Spring cleaning time and that includes inside the church! Come lend a hand on Saturday, March 21, 8:00am to noon. Any time you can give helping is appreciated!

Plan now to bring your kids and grandkids, toddlers through 5th grade, to our Easter Activity time following the service on Palm Sunday, March 29. We will have a special Easter Egg Hunt, cookie decorating, craft, and gift bag!

“FIRST” MONDAY OF THE MONTH PRAYER TIME
While we usually meet the first Monday of each month in the sanctuary for prayer time, rather than meet April 6, the day after Easter, we are going to meet instead on March 30, the Monday of Holy Week. Plan now to meet at 6:30 with your morning drink and prayer time together.

CLASSICS LUNCHEON
Ready for March Madness? Get your friends together and mark your calendars for Tuesday, March 31 at Noon for our monthly Classics Luncheon with a basketball theme, including Sloppy Joes, hotdogs, etc. Call the office to RSVP or sign up at the Mission table.

COMMUNITY LUNCH – BAKED POTATO BAR
On the second Saturday of each month we are hosting our Community Lunch and we need you to be here for it! Our next one is April 11, from 11:00am until 1:00pm. We will have a baked potato bar with all the fixings for members of the community who have been invited at the Blessing Boxes around town and through our local food pantries. We would love to have you volunteer by donating, helping, and/or socializing! Sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0F45ABAC2AA3F85-62985908-april or at the Mission Table in the hallway at church. If you have any questions, please contact the church office.

YOUNG FAMILY DINNER
Families with infants and toddlers are welcome to join us for social time, dinner, and crafts together on Monday, April 20, at 5:30 in Fellowship Hall. We’d love to know if we can expect you, so please RSVP to the office (office@calvaryunited.org). See you then!

MARCH MISSIONS FOCUS
Our March monthly mission giving will go to UMCOR, the mission and humanitarian assistance agency of the United Methodist Church. It works to make disciples of Jesus Christ, strengthen and develop and renew Christian congregations and communities, alleviate human suffering; and seek justice, freedom, and peace.
