Midweek Meditation: Wednesday, January 21, 2026
Dear Calvary Family,
Most of the first book of the Bible reads like an extended historical drama series. Families and brokenness, political intrigue and heroes, conflict and resolution fill these stories – especially so in the family drama of Jacob, his wives and many sons. Their family drama, especially between the brothers, concludes the entire book of Genesis and sets the stage for the story of the exodus in, well, the book of Exodus!
I am not sure about you, but I find family drama is always more fun and interesting when it isn’t my own family story. Watching someone else’s stuff helps me see myself safely from a distance within the story.
As we continue into week three of our Making Godly Men series, we witness firsthand how our God shapes, molds, and fashions Joseph into a man of principle, faithfulness, forgiveness, and leadership not just for others, but for his family with whom he deeply struggled. Forgiveness within the family is perhaps the most difficult, and yet the most needed, as we all grow in our godliness.
I hope to see you in person in worship this Sunday as we dig into how this story can speak in our own stories.
With the eyes of our hearts enlightened by God’s hope in Jesus,
Pastor Michelle
