Midweek Meditation: Wednesday, January 7, 2026
Dear Calvary Family,
Why are godly men important? First, because men matter to our God in Jesus. And second, because men have a powerful opportunity to significantly impact others for good or harm. These are just two of our core reasons why our first sermon series of our banner year “As We Follow Jesus Together” will focus on the making of godly men!
When I consider the traits of godly men and look deep into Gideon’s story, it is as if I can watch God’s spirit literally mold, shape, and redefine this young, insecure, uncertain boy into a man of God! So, we begin this Sunday with how God called Gideon to be His servant. Go check our Judges 6 for more context.
God is the master builder and creator. Let’s learn how God’s Spirit seeks to mold and shape the next generations of men at Calvary. See you online or in person.
With eyes of our hearts enlightened by God’s hope in Jesus,
Pastor Michelle
Here’s what’s happening in the life of our Church and how you can get involved:
NEW SERMON SERIES: MAKING GODLY MEN
This Sunday, we begin a sermon series to tie into the launch of a new Men’s Ministry group. The themes in the weeks to come will reflect leadership, courage, valor, action, compassion, strength, and truth as we pay attention to Biblical men who deepened their relationship with God.
COMMUNITY LUNCH – A NEW OUTREACH FOR EVERYONE TO PARTICIPATE IN
We are starting a new mission on the second Saturday of each month and we need you to be here for this! This Saturday, January 10, from Noon until 2:00, we will be hosting lunch for members of the community who have been invited at the Blessing Boxes around town and through the local food pantries. We would love to have you volunteer by helping and socializing. If you would like to bring a favorite soup or dessert, you are welcome to bring that as well. If you have any questions, please contact the office.
WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY
The Monday night Women’s Bible study will start back this coming Monday, January 12, at 6:30 in the conference room with “Twelve Daring Women of the Bible.” This is a 12-week study as some familiar Christian speakers look at spiritual lessons learned from Biblical women, including Deborah, Esther, Ruth, Puah & Shiprah, and Priscilla, and how we can apply these insights to own modern-day struggles. Participant guides are available for $12. Contact Beth (317-340-6447) or Lisa in the church office with any questions.
PROJECT ANGEL
We thank Lauren Hazel for her work again with Project A.N.G.E.L. This Hendricks County group was able to help 186 families with a total of 520 children this Christmas because of the generosity from Calvary members and others in our community! With that, they were able to supply gifts, clothing, winter coats, and food to these families!
YOUTH UPDATES
This Sunday, Youth Sunday School will resume after church, along with Handbell practice and Youth Group starting at 5:00pm.
Mark your calendar and plan to be here for a fantastic worship service led by our youth on February 15!
JANUARY’S MONTHLY MISSION
January’s designated missions giving is to Sheltering Wings. Sheltering Wings provides emergency housing and services for survivors escaping domestic abuse. They build stable and independent lives through essential programs offered in a supportive and Christ-centered environment.
OFFERING ENVELOPES
We are able to provide giving envelopes for 2026. If you would like to have a set of envelopes, contact the office (Office@CalvaryUnited.org or 317-852-2541) and indicate whether you would like monthly or weekly envelopes. Those of you who have requested envelopes can pick them up the next time you’re in church. They are in the office on the counter.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
When the Brownsburg School Corporation closes school for the day due to severe winter weather, all meetings and activities at Calvary will be cancelled as well. Should severe winter weather occur on a Saturday or Sunday please check local television stations for cancellation information. Our church will be identified with “Brownsburg” in the name. Additionally, the website itself will have an information banner added regarding any closings.
“NIGHT TO SHINE”
Pittsboro United Methodist Church is excited to partner with the Tim Tebow Foundation to host their 3rd “Night to Shine” on Friday, February 13, 2026! A few members of our church have helped with this in the past and had a lot of fun doing it! 2026 Registration for Volunteers and Honored Guests is open now. Join the team to offer another year of Night to Shine to the sons and daughters of the King in our area! Go to https://PittsboroUMC.org/night-to-shine-2025/ to find out more and register.
