Dear Calvary family,
As we lean into our Vibrant Church series, we will explore Paul’s conversion story again… perhaps one of the most famous and dramatic stories of life transformation in the Book of Acts. Saul encounters the Risen Jesus who blinds him and sends him to await healing. So, Saul’s life is interrupted. But that is not all: The ripple impact of Paul’s conversion is first experienced by Ananias, an early church leader who is commanded by the Lord to go heal Paul.
Former opposing parties drawn together by Divine intervention.
Have you ever experienced a former enemy (someone you were on opposite sides of a debate or conflict) be the person God sent to you for healing? Has God ever asked you to assist in the healing of someone who was once “not on your side”? Wouldn’t it have been curious to have been present when these two men met one another?
My goodness… what is our Lord up to?! Come listen and learn together this Sunday. We will share in the Sacrament of Holy Communion as well as Commission our Mountain T.O.P. missionaries.
On Mission POSSIBLE with you,
Pastor Michelle
Here’s what’s happening in the life of our Church and how you can get involved:
JOIN SUMMER CHOIR!
No rehearsals during the week and no robes during the service! Meet us instead every other Sunday morning at 9:00am to learn the music for that day’s worship. This Sunday, June 2, we’re singing “Amazing Grace”! If you’ve ever wanted to be a part of choir, this is a great way to try it out! See you at 9:00 in the choir room! (The next one will be June 16.)
SHARING TIME IN TENNESSEE
The group that is going on the Mountain T.O.P. mission trip June 16-22 needs one more adult! Do you have the time to share in this way? Is the Spirit moving you to share Christ’s love here? We’d love to answer your questions about it and have you join us! Please contact the office today!
FEELING CREATIVE?
As we gear up for our Summer “LEGO… and Let God” Camp, we also need to plan for decorations! If this sort of volunteering appeals to you or you might have ideas “to build on”, please contact the office! We need you!
YOUTH GROUP UPDATES
This coming Sunday afternoon, we head to Escapology in Greenwood for some puzzle-solving time. Next Sunday, we’ll enjoy some group time together at a Pool Party. Contact the office or Pastor Jolita for the details!
NEW MEMBER CONVERSATIONS
The pastors will be hosting a conversation with those who might be interested in joining Calvary on Sunday, June 16 and/or Sunday, June 23 in the Youth Room in the office area. All sorts of information will be shared. If you’d like to RSVP or have any questions, please contact the church office: office@calvaryunited.org.
FLAG RETIREMENT
The Boy Scouts that meet here will be properly retiring American flags this summer. If you have tattered, soiled, or old flags, please bring them to the church office by Thursday, June 20.
BROWNSBURG SCHOOLS FASTTRACK
The Brownsburg School Corporation hosts FastTrack every year for students who are on reduced or free lunch. At the event, students pick up their necessary school supplies which have been donated by various organizations and people in the community. This year, Calvary has signed up for 10,000 pencils! The pencils will be bundled in sets of 10 and delivered to the corporation office in July. We ask that you keep pencils on your shopping list for the next few weeks! There will be a box on the mission table across from the church office to collect your donations.
JUNE MISSION FOCUS – HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Indy area has helped to provide the opportunity of homeownership to more than 645 families since 1987. “Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. We envision a world where everyone has a decent place to live.” Help us partner with them this month!
FUNDRAISING HELP FOR OUR MOUNTAIN T.O.P. TRIP
Our group that is heading to Tennessee in June is offering a way for our congregation to help defray the cost. We will be selling Prime carwash tickets for $9, $14, and $22 this Sunday. Stop by the table in the narthex if you’d like to purchase one to help in this way.
MEAL HELP
A sign-up to help a church family with dinners these next few weeks has been created. If you would like to take part in this, please visit www.TakeThemAMeal.com/QDFV7462.
“LEGO… and LET GOD: Building your Faith Brick by Brick”
Registration for our three-day LEGO Camp taking place July 15-17 is available now at https://calvaryunited.org/summer-camp or forms are available on the table in the Narthex. More than half the spots are filled! Volunteers and participants in Kindergarten and up are encouraged to register today!
Each day we will have a prayer, a devotional, music, daily LEGO thematic challenges, outdoor games, and snacks.
Gather up old LEGO elements you or your family might have at home. (We will not be able to return them to you.) Bargain shoppers, please be alert online, at garage sales, and at Goodwill! Collection bins are in the narthex. We are also accepting financial donations to purchase LEGO sets as well. Please note “LEGO Camp” on your check. If you have any questions, please contact the church office.
