Dear Calvary family,
Last Sunday was amazing! And the reason for it is the Holy Spirit. Can you believe that we can be empowered, infused by the power of God? The outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost had a profound and transformative impact on all who gathered together, prayed, and waited. Prior to this extraordinary event, the disciples were filled with fear, uncertainty, and a sense of unpreparedness to carry out the task entrusted to them by Jesus. But things changed radically on Pentecost.
As important as it is to worship on Sunday, what is next is even more important: How Sunday worship changes and impacts us so we live it during the week. The Pentecost is phenomenal. But what is next is even more important. How do you live your life after that?
People, like always, have different ways to see and to react. Some people who were watching the apostles speaking in different languages thought they all were drunk! What little do we know. But this is what happens next: Peter stands up (with the rest of the apostles) and gives a first sermon. Do you want to know what he preaches? Yes, you do. Because 3,000 people accepted Jesus after his words.
Let’s not get weary, sleepy, or tired worshipping God together in one room. There is a power and that power is called the Holy Spirit. May you be moved by Him.
Moved by the Holy Spirit,
Pastor Jolita
Here’s what’s happening in the life of our Church and how you can get involved:
FUNDRAISING HELP FOR OUR MOUNTAIN T.O.P. TRIP
Our group that is heading to Tennessee in June is offering a way for our congregation to help defray the cost. We hope to be selling Prime carwash tickets for $9, $14, and $22 this Sunday. Stop by the table in the narthex if you’d like to purchase one to help in this way.
We thank you, too, for your help so far with the other fundraisers! From the flower basket sale, we have $280; from the Dine-to-Donate at Arni’s, we have $356.91.
A HEARTY THANK YOU!
Our Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser for this summer’s upcoming LEGO camp was an outstanding event! Thank you to the many volunteers who helped and the many who came to enjoy the dinner. The generous amount of $1300 was collected for the 88 meals to fund this summer’s activities!
MEAL HELP
A sign-up to help a church family with dinners these next few weeks has been created. If you would like to take part in this, please visit www.TakeThemAMeal.com/QDFV7462.

YOUTH GROUP UPDATES
Due to the Memorial Day Weekend, Youth Group will not meet this Sunday night, May 26. On another note: We have lots of fun activities planned for the summer! Let us know if you’ll join us Sunday, June 2 to go to Escapology in Greenwood! We’ll meet at church at 5:45 that evening for the “Antidote” or “Scooby” games. Email office@calvaryunited.org or let Pastor Jolita know that you’ll be coming.
NEW MEMBER CONVERSATIONS
The pastors will be hosting a conversation with those who might be interested in joining Calvary on Sunday, June 16 and Sunday, June 23 in the Youth Room in the office area. Various information about our church will be shared. If you’d like to RSVP or have any questions, please contact the church office: office@calvaryunited.org.
FLAG RETIREMENT
The Boy Scouts that meet here will be properly retiring American flags this summer. If you have tattered, soiled, or old flags, please bring them to the church office by Thursday, June 20.
BROWNSBURG SCHOOLS FASTTRACK
The Brownsburg School Corporation hosts FastTrack every year for students who are on reduced or free lunch. At the event, students pick up their necessary school supplies which have been donated by various organizations and people in the community. This year, Calvary has signed up for 10,000 pencils! The pencils will be bundled in sets of 10 and delivered to the corporation office in July. We ask that you keep pencils on your shopping list for the next few weeks! There will be a box on the mission table across from the church office to collect your donations.
