Midweek Meditation: Wednesday, August 7, 2024
Dear Calvary family,
As a child of the 1980’s, the movie franchise Back to the Future (1985) embodies so much of my growing up years, offers insight into my generation and my parent’s generation, and has lots of great quotes like “Great Scott!”
As we prepare for our third week in our series, Is It Well With My Soul?, we seek how Jesus wants us to address our past in order to go forward. It really is a spiritual journey of “going back…(in order to go) to our future…”. We will take a long look at Joseph (Genesis 50) as he sorted what blessings and what baggage from his family he wanted to keep and what he left at the Lord’s feet. “Whoa, that is heavy!” Like our families, Joseph’s family was characterized by brokenness and sadness. And yet, by God’s great grace, he grew into an emotionally and spiritually mature adult who fulfilled his unique calling from God. This is what the Holy Spirit is ready, willing, and able to aid each of us to do in our lives, families, and callings.
See you in person or online this Sunday as we “Break the Power of the Past”.
Remember ALL AGE levels of Sunday School are back in session this Sunday, August 11!
On Mission POSSIBLE with you,
Pastor Michelle

Rehearsals will start with a “handbell camp” on Saturday, September 7 from 10:00 am – noon. This will be a great opportunity to introduce the bells to new members and for returning members to freshen up on their skills. Please invite anyone who may be interested in being part of our ensemble! No prior experience is necessary – just a love for music and a willingness to try something new!
Wednesday evening rehearsals return on September 11 from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.
If you have any questions, please contact Mark at mherris@calvaryunited.org. Let’s make this season unforgettable!
